How we choose what to feature
Short version: we show our arithmetic, link to official guidance, and tell you when a product is the wrong tool.
What we do
- Base safety and quantity advice on government and health authority guidance, and link to it.
- Show the formulas so you can check the numbers yourself.
- Pick brands that are widely available in Canada or the US and have published specifications and warranties.
- Say when a product category is a poor fit, for example power stations for home heating.
What we do not do
- We do not claim to have tested products unless a page says so. At this stage our guides rely on manufacturers' published specifications and official guidance.
- We do not let commissions decide what we recommend. Retailers and brands cannot buy placement.
- We do not give medical, legal or electrical advice. Check with a professional for your situation.
Corrections
Prices, specifications and availability change. If something is out of date or wrong, email hello@prepforoutage.com and we will review it. Every page shows when it was last updated.
